Chairman of Belarusian Cycling Federation Natalia Tsilinskaya welcomed all participants of the 2017-18 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Minsk.
Dear friends and colleagues!
On behalf of the Belarusian Cycling Federation and on my own behalf, I welcome you on this cycling holiday. Indeed, the World Cup is a real holiday for Minsk. Once again, one of the most prestigious competitions in the calendar of UCI gathers the world strongest riders on the Minsk-Arena velodrome racetrack. And it means that the big cycling has come back to Minsk!
The capital of Belarus has already become the venue for top-level cycling launches. We are still proud of the 2009 UEC Track Cycling European Championships and the 2013 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, which were held with the great success. I am sure that this World Cup will also be held at the highest level and will take a decent place in the glorious row of our sport events.
The final round of the World Cup is an extremely important moment, not only for the organizers, but also for the participants, because the winners of the current World Cup will be determined right here, in Minsk. Moreover, it is the last opportunity for many athletes to compete for a license to the World Championship. So, the Minsk track struggle will be stubborn and uncompromising. Everyone will benefit from this, especially spectators, who will be able to fully enjoy the excitement and the glory of the track racing.
These competitions are of particular importance for the Belarusian riders. First, they will be cycling at home, and it is a big responsibility. Second, the World Cup is an excellent opportunity for our youth to compete with elite athletes of the world cycling. Third, this launch will become a great trial practice and abilities test before the global event the European Games 2019.
I wish the participants of the competitions to fully realize their ambitions. I wish them best of luck on the Minsk-Arena velodrome track, and may the best cyclists win! I sincerely wish cycling fans to have a lot of joy and unforgettable emotions. And I wish, of course, our native Belarusian team bright and stunning victories!
